WATTS CONTROLS

Watts Controls are built with a high power relay hardwired with 12-gage wire custom metal box. The 4 LC you will allow you to run 10-gage wire with a double 30 amp breaker. This box comes with a 240V, 110-plug or 240V, 240-plug. All the Controllers are triggered by a 110V coil to activate the 240V for your lights. All of the Controllers have a constant 110V plug on the front of the box. So you can plug any 110V device as long as the does not exceed 10 amps. This includes 1 amp for a timer then another 9 amps for fans or pumps in one box. We believe in quality of this product to give the customer the best of the best of what we know of lighting controls.

How It Works

The Watts Controls PF2 is a unique product which brings to the residential electrical consumer savings that, up to now, have only been available to the large industrial consumer.

The PF2 delivers these savings by correcting the Power Factor (PF) of the AC power to the consumer’s home. Any time an inductive load such as fans, compressors, ballasts, or anything containing a motor is connected to a power grid the current will lag the voltage. The phase angle of this lag--Cos ?--is referred to as Power Factor. Electrical companies allow a 90% to 95% PF. The electrical companies penalize the consumer if the consumption rate is outside of this range.

Voltage and current change direction 60 times per second, and if the voltage and the current change directions at the same time and in the same direction, the Power Factor is said to be unity. If the current lags the voltage, the PF becomes less than unity and some of the current will be effectively “wasted”. The innovative circuitry of the PF2 will “re-align” the PF, resulting in better power efficiency for the consumer.

Electrical motors in the home consume inductive power, which is a common cause leading to voltage and current misalignment. When switched on, they draw Apparent Power (kVA) from the mains due to lagging current. kVA is comprised of Active Power (kW), the power actually being consumed, as well as Reactive Power (kVAr), the power feeding the inductive portion of the load.

Reactive Power (kVAr) is of no benefit to the user, but does cost the consumer money. The less kVAr used the greater the savings, with no reduced consumption. Real Power and Apparent Power are said to be at unity, at 1.0 PF, if they share the same plane. All electrical energy is then going towards real work.

Why It Works

The Watts Controls PF2 works by correcting Power Factor (PF). Using our own proprietary solutions, the PF2 brings the voltage and load current into phase with each other. This results in a smooth, reliable, continuous “clean” flow of electricity, making for efficient power consumption.

As well as correcting Power Factor, the PF2 will also filter voltage transients (spikes) and residual noise from power lines.

The PF2 performs best under heavy loads, especially for equipment such as: welders, ballasts, air conditioners, dryers and pool motors. The PF2 is UL approved.

Important Info

Do not turn the PF2 off if heavy loads (20 amps or greater) are being used 24 hrs per day. The total load must not exceed 200 amps. Distribution panel lines may vary therefore make sure the Neutral is connected properly. Lines 1 and 2 are connected to the main power legs of the distribution panel.

Warranty

The PF2 carries a one year limited warranty from the date of purchase, verified by the original sales receipt. The warranty shall cover any defaults or repairs needed to bring the product to its original working condition. This warranty is null and void if the product has been tampered with in any way, or has not been properly installed by a licensed electrician.

Disclaimer

After review by our qualified electronic engineering staff, it has been determined that the Watts Controls PF2 may not work on all applications. There are numerous factors which will result in savings on power bills. The fact that all power delivery systems are not the same makes it nearly impossible to guarantee that the PF2 will work consistently in all applications. The noted power savings are an average reported by consumer field tests and information passed on to us by other retail outlets.

Any actions, claims, or misrepresentation in part or in whole made against the manufacturer, distributor or any one person selling this product must show the end user has complied with all appropriate regulations, local laws, and specifications. This piece of equipment must be installed by a fully trained, licensed electrician. The manufacturer, distributor, or any authorized licensees disclaim responsibility for noncompliance by the end user.
